For someone who has never used polymer clay before purchasing this sampler set, I was super excited to try them out. After seeing a few videos on YouTube, on how to make fairies and gnomes out of polymer clay, I wanted to fill our walking paths with all the whimsical creatures, houses and related stuff.

The day the Sculpey III sampler arrived we immediately started playing with it all. Polymer clay might be my new addiction. My daughter and I just played around creating little pieces and then threw them on a piece of aluminum foil and into the toaster oven following the instructions on the packaging.

When you first take your polymer clay pieces out of the oven, they are still hot and somewhat pliable. They do not harden immediately. You need to let them set for quite a while to fully cool off, not only the outside but the inside as well. Its a time game really.

TIP I FOUND: I came across a video that told me to run the freshly heated polymer clay pieces under cold water immediately after removing from the oven to make them harden quicker. We did this with some and others we didn’t. The ones we put under cold water immediately hardened, fast and quick, the ones we let sit were still not as hard as the ones we ran under cold water even an hour later. That might be the best tip I have ever received.

I honestly don’t know what a good price point is on polymer clay to know if I got a good deal money wise, but the fun we had was worth every penny. I plan to buy more and more and more and more.. 🙂
